Ch #23 Mythical Beast / Creature - Favorites Announced

Hi Everyone,

The "Mythical Beast / Creature" Challenge recently ended, and we had seven fantastic entries. Check them out here.


The number one favorite for this challenge is, "The Tale of the Firebird", by Laurie Amber. Check out Laurie's photostream to see more photos of wonderful details in this piece.




The first runner up is, "Phoenix Rising" by Victor Nunnally. Victor does amazing mosaics on windows.




The second runner up is "Totoro" by Laura (LauraInSpain on Flickr). Laura won the "Angel" challenge that ended at the same time as the Mythical Beast challenge!

Ch #22 "Angel" Favorites Announced

Hi Everyone!

I'm sending out a big congratulations to everyone who participated in the "Angel" Challenge in the Mosaic Challenge Group on Flickr. It was a really special challenge picked by Valerie Hornby, and the pieces entered were fantastic.


The number one favorite piece is, "Seeing the Light" by Luara (LauraInSpain on Flickr)

Laura has won a $25 gift certificate from Tammy at Glass Tiles of Oklahoma and, of course, everyone's admiration! :-)

When I first looked at this piece I thought the angel's body was a small sculpture from glass or lucite. The work Laura did to create the look of depth and defining the muscularity is amazing.




The first runner up place belongs to Valerie Hornby (MosaicMuse on Flickr) for her gorgeous piece, "Butterfly Kisses". What a sweet piece.




The second runner up piece is, "Cheryl's Angel" made by Stephnie (KatesGroome on Flickr).

I love this piece, because the angel seems so light and cheerful, and the lighting around her head is wonderful.
